Sayo Nickerson
Realtor/Broker

Sayo's beginnings are out East in the small French-Canadian town of Plantagenet about an hour outside of Ottawa, Ontario. Sayo is a Japanese name (she is half Japanese) that literally means 'small night' or 'twilight'. She grew up on a sheep farm of sorts but moved to Ottawa for high school and then went to Montreal for 4 years to attend McGill University where she graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor in Arts.
Apart from regularly visiting west coast family members, Sayo's first experience living in BC was when she moved to Whistler for the summers during university. She spent a full year in Whistler working and skiing before heading off with her best friend Wren to spend a year abroad in the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, New Zealand and finally Australia. After that it was off to Japan for almost 2 years where she taught English and met her husband JD.
After a final backpacking trip to Europe and Turkey, Sayo decided to make Vancouver her permanent home in 2000 and has never looked back. After a year working at Vancouver's famous Mushroom Studios, she made the switch to Real Estate, joined ReMax, and has been ranked in the top 10% of all Lower Mainland Realtors since 2004.
Outside of work, her hobbies include dancing flamenco, singing jazz, playing piano, renovating her house, being outside, and supporting environmental causes. She is excited to be supporting her flamenco school as a Silver Sponsor for the El Mozaico Dance Company's 'Café de Chinitas' production. More info at www.mozaicoflamenco.com
